1st December Current Affairs 2013-2014
- December 1st is observed as World AIDs Day.
- Ireland won the ICC World Twenty20 qualifier title for the 3rd time in four appearances with a 68 run victory over Afghanistan in final on 1st December in Dubai.
- Gaganjeet Bhullar bagged his 5th career title on the Asian Tour as he completed a start to finish win at the Indonesia Open in final round in Jakarta.
- Uganda’s Ismail Ssenyange won his 2nd full marathon in as many years by clocking a time of 2hrs 32mins and 21sec at the Wipro Chennai Marathon in Chennai and Getinet Chala Dessie of UAE finished second in the time of 2hrs 43mins and 21sec while Murugan of India came third in 2hrs 51mins and 18sec in Chennai on 1st December 2013.
- A record 72.49% turnout was registered in the Rajasthan Assembly election on 1st December 2013.

- The Strategic Forces Command (SFC) of the Army successfully test-fired the surface-to-surface Prithvi-II missile from the Integrated test Range Balasore, Odisha on 3rd December 2013.
- Canara Bank lowered the fixed deposit rates by up to one percentage point on select maturities. The bank has slashed the interest rates by 100 basis points from 8.75% to 7.75% on 3rd December 2013.
- The Global transaction services organization SWIFT said Yuan is the second most used currency in trade finance. China’s Yuan currency overtook the Euro in October
- .P. V. Sindhu won the Macau Open Grand Prix title. She is the new star in women’s badminton.
- Andhra Pradesh’s Yedla Kushal and Rithika Bazar won the under-14 boys and girls titles in the AITA Championship series at the Nadal Tennis Academy in Anantapur.
- M. S. Dhoni has won the ICC’s LG People’s Choice Award for 2013. He is the 2nd Indian to win this award after Sachin Tendulkar.

- Rashtriya Ispat Nigam’s (RINL) current Finance Director P. Madhusudanassumed to take charge as the chairman and managing director of RINL from 1st January 2014, the Public Enterprises Selection Board had recommended his name for the top post in RINL in June.
- Wipro has decided to shut down its manufacturing of computers and servers due to the changing market scenario and consumer preferences.

- Union Cabinet approved a bill for the creation of Telagana state as 29thstate of India with 10 districts on December 5th 2013. The bill will go to President Panab Mukherjee on 6th 0r 7th December 2013.
- U. S economy grew 3.6% annual rate from July-September, the fastest since early 2012.
- Gross collection from direct taxes, that include personal income tax, corporate taxes and wealth tax, rose by 13.18% to Rs. 3.69 Lakh crore in the April-November period of this fiscal.
- SAIL announced that it had achieved total sales of 9.7 Lakh tones in November, a growth of 10% over same month last year.
- FIFA World Cup 2014 will be held in Brazil.
- Mahashri Baloda won the girl’s U-14 Shot Put event in 29th junior National athletics championships at the sree kanteerava stadium, Bangalore.
- Aditya Joshi and Rituparna Das won the National Junior Badminton championship Under-19 boy’s and girl’s titles.
